Where confidence, enjoyment, and passion come first
Matt’s Football Academy was created to give children a positive, supportive place to enjoy football while growing in confidence.
Our mission is simple — football should be fun, inclusive, and full of smiles. When children enjoy what they’re doing, learning happens naturally.
We focus on confidence, teamwork, discipline, respect, and passion — skills that go far beyond the pitch.
Too many children fall out of love with football due to pressure, fear of mistakes, and environments focused only on winning.
Matt’s Football Academy was built to be different — a place where children feel safe to try, learn, and grow without fear of criticism.
Confidence comes first. Football comes second.
At the age of 11 or 12, I was captain of my team. I stepped up to take a penalty in a big moment — and I missed.
I felt like I had let everyone down. But that moment taught me something far more important than scoring a goal ever could.
It taught me resilience. Responsibility. And that mistakes don’t define you — how you respond to them does.
That experience shaped the coach I am today. It’s why children here are encouraged to try, to take risks, and to play without fear.
“Football is about learning, growing, and enjoying the journey — not being perfect.”
Football has been part of my life since the age of 3 — over 41 years of passion, lessons, and memories.
Through football, children learn teamwork, discipline, confidence, communication, and resilience — skills they carry into school and everyday life.
Every child should leave training smiling, believing in themselves, and excited to return.
